A week after losing the top position of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Wikki Tourists of Bauchi yesterday returned to the zenith after defeating Abia Warriors of Umuahia 2-0 at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
Goals from Ibrahim Abdullahi and Godwin Obaje in each half were enough to displace Rangers International of Enugu who managed a 1-1 home draw against Lobi Stars. It was Obaje’s 14th goal of the season.
Wikki now tops the table with 47 points, same as Rangers but with superior goal difference.
The top of the bill clash in Akure saw hosts Sunshine Stars defeating Rivers United 1-0 courtesy of Dele Olorundare’s 43rd minute goal while Shooting Stars made mince-meat of Niger Tornadoes 3-1 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan with Sunday Adetunji scoring a brace.
Former Super Eagles striker, Gambo Mohammed was the difference as his 61st minute goal helped Kano Pillars defeat hard-fighting Mountain of Fire Ministry (MFM) at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
The match between Warri Wolves and Akwa United has been moved to today after a heavy rain prevented the match from holding yesterday at the Warri Township Stadium.
