Slaven Bilic says he's happy to be the one to lead West Brom's "project" after being named the club's new manager on a two-year deal.
The Baggies have been looking for a new permanent boss since parting ways with Darren Moore in March.
Jimmy Shan stepped in as caretaker boss for the remainder of the season, which ended in disappointment when Albion were beaten by Aston Villa on penalties in the Championship play-off semi-finals.
The Hawthorns outfit have now opted for Bilic as the man to steer them back to the Premier League with West Brom 3/1 to be promoted this season.
The former Croatia, Hajduk Split, Lokomotiv Moscow and Besiktas coach hasn’t worked in English football since being sacked by West Ham in 2017.
The 50-year-old guided the Hammers to seventh and 11th in the Premier League before a poor start to the 2017-18 season resulted in him being sacked.
The ex-Everton defender has only worked once since then, a five-month stint in charge of Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia which ended in February.
Bilic is now looking forward to his first taste of Championship football and is excited by West Brom’s vision for the future.
"We want to improve on the pitch and Albion have convinced me they want to return to the Premier League," Bilic said.
"Albion have a short-term project and a long project and they do not clash.
"They made it clear they wanted me to be the one to lead them in this and I didn't think twice once they had spoken to me."
West Brom finished fourth last season and are 10/1 to win the Championship with Bilic in charge.
