"?Werder Bremen's sporting director Frank Baumann has reportedly confirmed that Arsenal's Serge Gnabry will be permanently joining the club in this transfer window.

According to "?Sky Sports, the 21-year-old is keen to join the Bundesliga side before the end of the transfer deadline on Wednesday evening, however Baumann insisted that their domestic rivals Bayern Munich were in no way part of the deal.

"Talks with Arsenal are going well," said Baumann.

"He would like to play for us. Bayern Munich have no influence on potential transfer."

The German international was given the choice by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to sign a contract extension, with his current one expiring at the end of this season, while also giving him the chance to head out on loan once more.

However, it is looking increasingly likely that the former Stuttgart winger will be returning to the Bundesliga, and for a bargain cut-price of around £4m-£5m, despite initial discussions involving a fee of around £8m-£10m.

Gnabry has struggled break into the first team in the last couple of years under Wenger in North London after signing a new five-year-contract in 2013, and failed to make a significant impact during his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion last season.

The Germany international, who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympic games this summer in which he scored six goals in six games, has only made nine Premier League starts for the Gunners, and despite Wenger insisting the player's future remains at Arsenal, Gnabry's itchy feet may well lead him back home to Germany.
