Manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger has revealed that mercurial midfielder Santi Carzola is a huge doubt for today’s game against newly promoted Middlesbrough.
Cazorla according to Wenger is yet to full recover from a knock picked up in midweek in the 6-0 win over Ludogorets Razgard of Bulgaria, hence a huge doubt for the tie against Boro.
“Well, from Wednesday night it looks like we have no big problems. The only uncertainty I have is Santi Cazorla, who got a kick. We’ll see how he is today but we have nobody coming back. Of course we lose Xhaka because he’s suspended and everybody else should be available.” He said in his pre match conference.
Speaking on possible replacements for the influential Spaniard, the manager named Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi as one of the numerous players, who can slot in for Cazorla, if he is passed unfit for the game.
” We have options despite the absence of Xhaka through suspension, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mohammed El-Neny and Alex Iwobi are all players who can come in for Carzorla without affecting the balance of the team”.
