Waldrum who is leading the Falcons out in his first major tournament, recalls that the process of selecting the final 25 players was down to merit.

The 65 year-old trainer praised his back room for their ‘diligence’ in selecting the best legs and he expressed confidence in the squad.

“Absolutely, We feel like we’ve selected the best that we had to choose from,” Waldrum told NFF TV. Nigeria will present a blend of veterans and several debutantes during the 13th edition of the AWCON championship in Morocco.

The squad will also have the oldest player in the competition, CB and captain Onome Ebi, who has won four previous titles.
