Nigeria's Victor Boniface aided his side, Royal Union Saint-Gilloise to their first victory in the champions playoffs against Raphael Onyedika and Club Brugge, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
An entertaining tie ended 2-1 as Boniface opened the score with his 16th goal of season for the USG at the Jan Breydel to reignite their title challenge on Saturday.
The Nigerian forward controlled the ball with his right to beat the defender before hitting the shot into the net with his left foot before half time.
Jean Thierry Lazare doubled the lead at the start of the second half before Hans Vanaken pulled one back in the 93rd minute for the defending champions, but it was a only consolation as the tie ended 2-1.
Ahead of Genk’s game with Antwerp on Sunday, Union are now level on points with Genk.
The Brussels based side will now face Genk back to back in their next two play-off games.
