Nasarawa United head coach, Kabir Dogo has said his side acquitted themselves creditably in the Federation Cup final clash against top-flight side, FC IfeanyiUbah.
The Solid Miners eventually lost the fight 4-5 on penalties to the Anambra Warriors in the Cup final on Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
Dogo said penalty shootouts have not been the best and fairest decider of the best team in most competitions.
“Firstly, we give thanks to God for making it possible for us to play in the final of 2016 Federation Cup even though we turned out losers at the end of the day.
“Nasarawa United are good side and equally play good football though we have no trophy to show for our efforts.
“However, I want to say boldly that my team were not disgraced in the Cup final, it was a 50/50 thing at the penalty shootouts.
“It’s usually unwanted as it often turns out to be a bad judge of a good team as the outcome could go either ways.
“I wish the winners, FC IfeanyiUbah the best of luck in their future endeavours and hearty congratulations, too to them,” said the former Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC to supersport.com.
Dogo said the Lafia outfit will quickly head to take stocks and prepare for a successful campaign in the upcoming top-flight.
“We will go to prepare for a successful campaign in the upcoming season as the season has officially ended with the conclusion of the Cup final.
“The players will rest for a while, I will equally take time to relax, cool my head and think for the future.
“I know for sure that the future of Nasarawa United and myself is bright in the round leather game,” said Dogo.
Nasarawa United were semifinalists in the 2015 edition of the annual football showpiece and finalists in the immediate past edition.
