79th-minute introduction in Milan's 4-0 win over Venezia over the weekend, Samuel Chukwueze was once again overlooked for a starting bet as Milan hosted Liverpool at the San Siro on Tuesday night to kick off their Champions League campaign.

Milan started the game brightly with Pulisic drawing the first blood to give them the lead just 3 minutes into the encounter. The team went to sleep after the goal, allowing Liverpool to dictate the game's pace while soaking the pressure and waiting to hit on the counter. The tactics however didn't pay off as Liverpool leveled things through Konaté 20 minutes later. Virgil van Dijk put the visitors ahead with 4 minutes left to play in the first half.

Milan started the second half searching for the equaliser before getting hit by the 3rd in the 67th minute of the game through Szoboszlai, killing any hope of a comeback at the San Siro.

The defeat placed Milan 33rd on the 36 log table after one game.
