U-20 World Cup: South Korea cut short Nigeria's journey

The Nigeria under 20 male national team have been knocked out of the quarter finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup currently going on in Argentina on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Flying Eagles crashed out after losing by a goal to nil at extra time after 90 minutes of regulation time had ended goalless at the Santiago Del Estero Stadium.

A game of two halves it seemed as the Nigerian team had a large share of dominance in the first half to score, but the scoreline remained barren till the end.

In the second half, the South Korea came out better pushed for their own match winner, but it was to no avail as no of the teams could find the net after 90 minutes and additional time.

The match moved into extra time and it took just five minutes into the game that the South Koreans broke the deadlock. Choi Seok-Hyun was there to head the ball pass goalkeeper Kingsley Aniagboso from a corner.

The first half extra time ended and all efforts by the Flying Eagles to score was abortive likewise the second half as South Korea won the tie by a goal to nil and progress to the semi final to play Italy.
