Georginio Wijnaldum insists he never wanted to leave Liverpool but says a lack of faith from the club made him leave for Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool refused to offer the Netherlands international a contract renewal when his deal expired at the end of the 2020/21 season and the 30-year-old moved to Paris on a free transfer.
“You follow your feeling," Wijnaldum told L’Equipe. “Several months ago, I had expressed the desire to stay in Liverpool but, without going into details, Liverpool did not give me the feeling of wanting to keep me. In these cases, we have to move forward."
