Cyriel Dessers has emerged as a key transfer target for AEK Athens in recent weeks, but negotiations with Rangers have hit a roadblock. The Scottish club remains firm on their £5 million asking price for the 30-year-old Nigerian striker, while AEK Athens are unwilling to match that valuation, having reportedly tabled an offer of just under £3.85 million.

Although there has been little progress in recent days, Dodds remains confident that the Nigerian player will depart before the transfer window closes. He believes it is only a matter of time before a deal is finalized.

"The big man is a gentleman, he wants to learn. He's brilliant", Dodds stated via Scottish Sun.

"I told him that every time he takes more than two touches with his chances, he misses them.

"It wasn't just me, we all demanded more for him. He was so relaxed about it and just wanted to learn.

"If he leaves then Rangers will need those 28 goals or so to be replaced. I think he will leave."

Dessers haven't been pictured anywhere near the Gers camp who have resumed for preseason, it's believed that this is due to a potential summer departure.
