Nwakaeme has been without a club since leaving Trabzonspor at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract.

The 33-year-old became fans’ favourites after playing a major role in guiding the Black Sea Storm to their first Super Lig title in three decades.

The Nigerian forward was one of the most effective players in the Turkish elite division last season, contributing 13 goals and ten assists in 30 games.

Despite his popularity among the club faithful, the Super Lig champions were unwilling to meet the one-cap Super Eagles forward financial demands, forcing him to leave as a free agent.

Since becoming a free agent, Fernabache and Galatasaray have emerged as the leading candidates for his signature.

However, Galatasaray’s poor return in front of goal so far this season has forced the club to reignite their interest in Nwakaeme according to Turkish publication, Sporx, and they are hoping to convince the striker to accept their offer to join the club.
