Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Marseille forward Andre Ayew, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.
Ayew is out of contract on 30th June and Marseille have not offered the 25-year-old a fresh contract. The forward too has shown an interest in plying his trade in a new league next season.
He has professed his preference for the Premier League and has talked about being a boyhood Liverpool fan, but now Tottenham have joined the race for the forward.
The Ghana international, who holds a French passport, would strengthen Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they attempt to improve upon their fifth place finish in the league and qualify for the Champions League next term.
Italian giants Roma and Inter Milan are also in the race to acquire the services of the Ghana star.
And Roma, having directly qualified for the Champions League after finishing second in Serie A, were reported to be the leading contenders to land Ayew, but the deal is reported to have fallen through.
That could pave the way for Tottenham, who will play in the Europa League next season, to go after the forward.
Ayew has scored 11 times and assisted a further six goals from his 30 appearances in all competitions this season.
