Thibaut Courtois backs Kylian Mbappe for Ballon d’Or

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has chosen team-mate Kylian Mbappe as the player he would award the Ballon d’Or to this year.

Mbappe finished as the leading scorer in La Liga, the Champions League and the World Cup, making him Courtois’ preferred candidate for the individual prize.

“He amazes everyone,” Courtois said of Mbappe.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on 26 October.

Mbappe did not win a team trophy with Real Madrid last season.
