Hamburger SV have beaten out tough competition from Marseille, Lyon, and a host of other potential suitors to the signing of 27-year-old highly rated defender Jordan Torunarigha, a move that the Nigerian international believes that the club's chiefs in charge of transfer gave him a positive feeling about, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Jordan Torunarigha joins on a free transfer from Jupiler Pro League side KAA Gent following the expiration of his contract with whom he made 145 competitive appearances over the past three and a half years across domestic and European fixtures.

“I know the Bundesliga already and I’m really looking forward to returning to play in this special league once again, especially for a club with the tradition of HSV", Torunarigha said after signing his contract papers.

“The people in charge made a great deal of effort to instill me with a positive feeling. I can’t wait to get to know my new teammates, the coaches and other staff, the fans, and the city. I aim to utilize all my strengths and experience to assist us in enjoying a successful season together, in which we achieve our goals.”

Having previously represented Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga, he would hope to help his newly promoted side maintain their top-flight status and challenge for trophies next season.
