Nasarawa Amazons head coach Christopher Danjuma has revealed his excitement following his team historic conquest at the just concluded Betsy Obaseki Women Football in Benin having edged Bayelsa Queens in a thrilling penalty shoot-out to emerge champions, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
It will be noteworthy to know that this is the first time that the Lafia based club will be making it to the final stage and also the first time they would be wining the showpiece.
Their victory means no team has won it twice, with different teams winning each of the four editions.
Speaking after his team's victory, the Falconets head coach stated:
"The feeling is indescribable, to finally win something after numerous attempts. We've been trying after coming close on different occasions.
"We told ourselves that we must always be in the game no matter what rather than trailing. So we attacked with caution especially in the second half".
What he thinks about the penalty shootout: "We have been practicing penalty kicks after every training sessions because we've been unlucky with penalties in the last few seasons".
Amazons were rewarded with a whooping sum of N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) as the winner of the competition.
Next up is the Sheroes Cup Preseason Tournament coming up in Abuja next week where they would be hope to continue their amazing run in preparation for the 2024/25 NWFL Premiership campaign.
