Derby County manager Frank Lampard does not think defender Curtis Davies will play again this season.
The 33-year-old will have surgery on his injured Achilles on Monday and is not expected to have made a full recovery until next June.
The experienced former Hull City, Birmingham City, Aston Villa and West Brom defender sustained the injury in the first half of Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at Stoke City.
Speaking after Saturday's match against Swansea City, which the Rams won 2-1, ex-Chelsea and England midfielder Lampard said: "Curtis is going to be having surgery on Monday and he's going to be out for around six months so it's a long one.
"He will probably be out for the season so it's not good news and it's the news we feared. Curtis is disappointed but he's in good spirits. He is a good professional and he will get straight to work to get himself back fit."
Davies, who suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the campaign which meant he did not play a first-team match for more than two months, has featured in 51 Championship games for the Rams following his arrival from Hull in the summer of 2017.
