The central defender spoke at the pre-match conference of the game between Nigeria and Rwanda and responded to a question about when he will retire.

Ekong stated retirement was not on his immediate plans as he believes he is good to go as long as the coach continues to invite him to the national team.

Asked by a Journalist if he was considering retiring from the National team after the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco: "I am still 31, the next AFCON is just 12 months away, and there's still the 2026 World Cup tournament to look forward to.

"After that, we will see! It's not my decision, (as long as I am still invited by the coaches, I still have much more to give)"
