Super Eagles fly to South Africa for cucial World Cup Qualifier

The Super Eagles have departed for South Africa to prepare for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The team, accompanied by technical crew members, officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and supporters club members, traveled to South Africa aboard a ValueJet Airline with 22 players.

Talismanic forward Victor Osimhen will not be part of the team due to an injury sustained during Nigeria's 1-0 win over Rwanda on Saturday.

Osimhen was substituted in the 35th minute after suffering a bruise on his chin and has been advised not to travel with the team for further treatment.

The highly anticipated match between South Africa and Nigeria will take place at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, September 9, with kickoff scheduled for 5 pm Nigeria time.

This match is crucial for Nigeria's World Cup qualification hopes, with the Super Eagles currently sitting in third position with 10 points, six behind South Africa in Group C.
