Chelle, who was unveiled as the new head coach of the three-time African champions by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) last week, is determined to prove his worth through the team's performance.

The 47-year-old Malian coach, whose appointment was met with resistance from fans and pundits, is resolute that his experience and vision make him the right man for the job. Speaking in an interview with matinlibre.com, Chelle reflected on his extensive coaching career that began after his playing days in 2014. He pointed to his stints in both Mali and Algeria, notably with Mouloudia Club d'Oran, as crucial in shaping his understanding of African football.

“I’ve been coaching since 2014, and I’ve coached teams in West Africa and Algeria. I’m starting to get to know African football well,” Chelle remarked. “I feel ready to lead this great team with great players. I have a vision of football that will really fit well with this team.”

Chelle also acknowledged the pressure and scrutiny that come with coaching a prestigious national team like Nigeria’s Super Eagles but emphasized his readiness to face these challenges. “It’s normal that there is pressure, and it’s normal that there is criticism. I have my game plan in mind, and I’m ready to put it in place,” he said.

He remains steadfast in his belief that his results and the team's performances will ultimately justify his appointment. “Now, my results and the team’s results will speak for me,” Chelle concluded. “At the time we speak, the coach of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, his name is Eric Chelle.”

With his vision and resolve, Chelle is committed to guiding Nigeria to success on the international stage and silencing any doubts about his capabilities.
