Super Eagles coach Alloy Agu has dismissed fears over the inactivity of goalkeeper Carl Ikeme at his English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ikeme has been installed as Nigeria No 1 following the retirement of Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama from international football, but he last featured for his club Wolves on August 29 at home against Charlton Athletic.

The Wolves goalkeeper has played only three games this season compared to featuring in 33 games the previous campaign.

Nigeria will again be relying on the 29-year shot stopper for a 2018 World Cup eliminator against Swaziland and Agu has dispelled fears his lack of minutes at Wolves could affect him with the Super Eagles.

“It is not a major concern that he is not playing for his club as long as he continues to do well with us,” maintained the former Eagles skipper.

“I believe his coach at Wolves will have a second look at him based on what he does with us.

“He could also have a chance to move elsewhere for his club football.”
