Sunshine Stars get the better of Doma United in Akure

Sunshine Stars were 2-0 winners at the Akure Township Stadium against Doma United in the Nigeria Premier Football League match day 17 fixture on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Akure Gunners triumphed courtesy of goals from Emmanuel Isaac and Opeoluwa Olufemi sealed three points at the end of proceedings.

In a game dominated by the hosts, the Akure side tested the waters early with a long range effort that was saved by Kingdom Osayi 2 minutes into the tie.

And in the 20th minute, the goal came from Isaac to put Sunshine Stars in the driving seat.

Doma United came close to levelling the score 5 minutes later when Majalisa hit a shot that was parried away for a corner as the first half remained 1-0.

In the second 45, the home side extended their lead 2 minutes into the half through Olufemi.

Two minutes later it could have been 3, but for the timely response of Haruna Aliyu who cleared the ball off the line.

As the host continued to dominate, Osayi was on hand to keep the score respectable 2 minutes to the end of the encounter after he stretched full length to make another save.

It ended 2-0 in favour Sunshine Stars who have now garnered 21 points to stay 8the position while Doma United are 2nd with 28 points pending other matches that will be played on Thursday.
