Strike: Stranded Super Eagles players arrive Uyo

At least five of the eight stranded Super Eagles players landed in Uyo on Tuesday afternoon, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Fifteen out of the 23 players had already commenced training on Sunday, with the remaining squad members expected on Monday.

However, due to the ongoing national strike, the other players found themselves stranded in Lagos and Abuja.

The team's media officer confirmed that Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Frank Onyeka, and Paul Onuachu have now arrived in Uyo.

The arrival of Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Maduka Okoye is anticipated later today.

Nigeria will  face South Africa's Bafana Bafana on Friday and will later travel to Abidjan to play against Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Hugo Broos’ squad along with the officials are expected in Nigeria on Wednesday ahead of the encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
