Former Everton star Steven Naismith has questioned Rangers head coach Paul Clement's striking decisions after he left his highest goal- scorer Cyriel Dessers on the bench yesterday during the club's nervy 1-0 home win against St Johnstone, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
The ex-Rangers player believes that manager Philippe Clement's frequent rotation of strikers is due to his search for a reliable focal point for the team with the availability of three strikers in Dessers, Danilo, and Hamza. Clement has experimented with various attacking options in recent weeks as he strives to find the right combination to lead the line.
"That's probably the biggest frustration for the manager. He's got three forwards who are all slightly different in their type of profile as a player. For any Rangers forward it is about consistency. You see it through the years, strikers who consistently score goals or are involved in goals", he stated via Sportscene.
"Dessers has done that the most but has taken a bit of criticism recently. He's searching for that one guy who is going to stand up and consistently hit the net, which eases everything for a Rangers performance."
It is believed that Nigeria is the better player amongst the three and he's expected to continue as the first choice as they look to bring in a summer replacement if things don't change.
