Serie A Team of the Week | Round 15

Published on: 10 December 2018

Juventus won the Derby d’Italia 1-0 against a stubborn Inter side to maintain their unbeaten start to the Serie A season, though Napoli continue to keep up the chase in second spot with an easy win over Frosinone.

A crazy match in Sardinia saw Cagliari score two goals in the stoppage time to earn a draw with Roma, whilst Sampdoria bagged a late equaliser against Lazio, and Fiorentina got two in the final two minutes to grab a 3-3 draw with Sassuolo.

There was a big win for Empoli at the bottom of the table, their third in four matches since changing coach, and Atalanta got three points at Udinese thanks to a Duvan Zapata hat-trick.

Our Team of the Week will see a 3-4-3 formation deployed. Let us know your thoughts!

Alessio Cragno – Cagliari (4 Team of the Week appearances)
Currently the most in form Italian goalkeeper, he kept Cagliari in the game against Roma with at least three vital saves.

Joao Cancelo – Juventus (3 apps)
The decisive assist as well as the usual, immense, quality on the flank. A number 10 playing at full back.

Giorgio Chiellini – Juventus (3 apps)
Literally rock solid. Phenomenal defender, improving with age.

Faouzi Ghoulam – Napoli
Back with two assists after over a year without playing. Napoli have missed him.

Bryan Cristante – Roma
A beautiful goal and a solid performance throughout, despite the crazy final minutes.

Alfred Duncan – Sassuolo
A lovely goal and an assist, dominating win midfield against Fiorentina.

Ismael Bennacer – Empoli
Proving yet another time what a useful player he is in the regista role, combining quality in the build up and efficiency in defending.

Riccardo Saponara – Sampdoria (2 apps)
A phenomenal strike on 99 minutes to give Samp the most unbelievable of equalisers.

Mario Mandzukic – Juventus (3 apps)
Give him a big game and he will show up. The winner against Inter, this time round.

Duvan Zapata – Atalanta (2 apps)
Demolished his former club with a hat-trick.

Francesco Caputo – Empoli (3 apps)
Once again on the scoresheet, making it eight goals this season and being once again fundamental to Empoli’s great streak.
