Serie A: Osimhen ushers Napoli into the new season with a brace

Victor Osimhen picked up his scoring boots were he left them last season as scoring twice in Napoli’s 3-1 victory over Frosinone in the league opener on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com  reports.

Napoli started their title defense  Benito Stirpe on Saturday night conceding from spot-kick through Abdou Harroui in the 7th minute before former Inter Milan forward, Mateo Politano equalised for the visitors in the 24th minute.

From then on it was all Napoli’s game to lose. The Partenopei took the lead for the first time in the game three minutes before the break when the Nigeria international fired home a power shot, opening his goal account for the new season.

Osimhen, seven minted past the hour mark was played through on goal by Di Lorenzo, and with only the goalkeeper to beat, he placed a low and precise shot past Stefano Turati in Frosinone’s goal to make it 3-1 and seal the victory.

 

The victory also, gives Napoli new manager, Rudi Garcia officially his first win success his appointment as the team head.

Osimhen was the league top scorer last season scoring 26 goals in 32 appearances.
