The Serie A club confirmed to AFP on Tuesday that it has opened an investigation following racial abuse of AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan before to the two sides' 1-1 draw at the weekend.

A video that immediately went viral on social media showed an off-camera supporter hurling racial slurs at the France international as he warmed up at Juve's Allianz Stadium before of the match.

According to AFP, a Juve spokesman is attempting to identify the person who insulted Maignan.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) is reportedly contemplating conducting its own inquiry into the event, according to Italian media.

Since football stadiums were re-opened to the public at 50% capacity at the start of this season, this is the second incidence of racism at a Serie A stadium.

The FIGC launched an inquiry on Friday into alleged racist insults directed against Milan player Tiemoue Bakayoko by Lazio fans earlier this month.
