Athletic Bilbao took the lead in the 26th minute in unfortunate fashion for Valencia, as Sadiq accidentally turned the ball into his own net while attempting to defend a set-piece. The early setback put the hosts in control and left Valencia chasing the game.

However, the Super Eagles striker showed great character to make amends before the break. With ten minutes left in the first half, Sadiq reacted quickest inside the box to fire home the equaliser, restoring parity and giving Valencia renewed hope heading into the second half.

The contest remained finely balanced for much of the game, with both sides pushing for a decisive goal. Just when it appeared the match was heading for extra time, Athletic Bilbao struck late drama. In the 96th minute, Inaki Williams delivered the decisive blow, sealing victory for the Basque side and sending them into the semi-finals.

Sadiq only joined Valencia during the January transfer window after struggling for regular playing time at Real Sociedad. Despite the disappointment of elimination, his goal will be a positive sign as he looks to settle quickly and make a strong impact at his new club.
