Cheetahs of Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has criticised FIFA for dragging its feet over a decision on South Africa’s alleged use of an ineligible player during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, gathered by NigeriaSoccernet.com.

The case involves Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena, who played against Lesotho despite reportedly being suspended for yellow card accumulation. Rohr insists the rules are clear and that South Africa should forfeit the match.

“With the next round of qualifiers approaching, it’s essential all teams know exactly where they stand,” Rohr told UK-based Nigerian journalist Osasu. “I’m genuinely surprised FIFA is taking so long to address what appears to be a straightforward matter.”
