Rohr Hands Chukwueze Eagles Debut Vs Uganda; Akpeyi, Ajayi, Osimhen Start

Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze will make his debut for the Super Eagles in today’s (Tuesday) international friendly match against the Uganda Cranes, Gernot Rohr’s starting list has confirmed.

As reported by CSN on Monday, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr kept to his word by making six changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Bafana Bafana of South Africa in last Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg.

Rohr handed Daniel Akpeyi his first start for the team in goal since featuring for the Super Eagles in an international friendly against Argentina a year ago.

Also making his first start in an official game is Rotherham United defender Semi Ajayi. The 25-year-old partners John Ogu in the heart of the team’s defence with Bryan Idowu and Jamilu Collins playing at right and left fullbacks respectively.

Mikel Agu also starts alongside Oghenekaro Etebo in the defensive midfield role with Alex Iwobi playing in the No.10 role.

Victor Osimhen gets Rohr’s nod ahead of Watford striker Isaac Success to lead the Super Eagles attack. He will be flanked by captain Ahmed Musa and Chukwueze.

Louis Houngnande from Benin Republic will serves as the referee for the game and will be assisted by compatriots Razack Bello (assistant referee 1) and Eric Ayimavo (assistant referee 2).

Nigeria’s Shaibu Abdullahi will be reserve referee.

The game will kickoff at 4.30pm.
