Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has identified Harry Kane as the player who should win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, pointing to the England captain’s “crazy statistics”.

Kane scored twice in England’s 3-0 victory over Czech Republic in the fourth round of the Nations League group stage.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held in London on 26 October.

Last year’s award was won by Paris Saint-Germain and France attacking midfielder Ousmane Dembele.
