Asante Kotoko winger Richard Mpong says the side is determined to put New Edubiase in its ‘rightful’ place when they clash in the Elite Cup on Sunday.

The Premier League champions will be facing Edubiase just weeks after being denied maximum points in a league match that ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

The Berkwai-based club have always been a boogey side for Kotoko especially when playing in Kumasi.

But Richard Mpong believes the weekend clash will see his side dismantle the simile invincibility of New Edubiase.

“It is a game that we are taking very seriously,” he said.

“We want to first of all start off the group stage on a good note and also put New Edubiase at their rightful position.

“They secured a late equalizer to draw 2-2 against us the last time so we want to beat them here in Kumasi to prove to them they were only lucky.”
