Despite Monday’s announcement that Frenchman Paul Le Guen has been recommended to be Nigeria’s next coach, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Frenchman are in dispute over several of his contract terms,AfricanFootball.com understands.
Former Cameroon coach Le Guen, 52, has been recommended by the NFF technical committee to the executive committee to lead the Super Eagles with Salisu Yusuf as chief coach.
The technical committee have equally stressed this appointment is based on the coach agreeing a contract offered by the NFF.
However, there are several contending issues which need to be sorted out before Le Guen will take up the Super Eagles top post, we can exclusively report today.
“It’s not a done deal yet that Le Guen will take up the Eagles job because there are several major grey areas that have not been agreed between the coach and the NFF,” one top official told only AfricanFootball.com
Another official added: “For instance, there are several adds-on Le Guen is demanding, which the NFF are not comfortable with. And it seems he is not ready to concede on these issues. He is playing hard ball.”
It was understood that the NFF have proposed the former Lyon coach comes along with an assistant, but he has insisted on two assistants.
Also, whether he will be paid in local currency along with the government’s new fiscal policies has yet to be ironed out.
