Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo scored his 14th league goal in Serie B for Crotone who pipped Ascoli 3-0 in the final game of the season on Saturday reports Completesports.com.
The 27 year old scored in the 40th minute to hand his side a 1-0 lead into the break.
The goal was Simy’s second against Ascoli this season. He scored in Crotone’s 3-2 loss in the reverse fixture played on the 30th of December, 2018.
Stefano Pettinari doubled Crotone’s lead three minutes into the second half before Ahmad Benali bagged the third goal in the 57th minute of the win.
The win moves Crotone four points clear of the relegation zone.
They are now 12th in the Serie B log with 43 points from 36 games.
Nwankwo finished seventh in the top scorer chart in the Italian Serie B.
The forward will be hopeful of making Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
At the Comunale Via De Mare stadium, Nigerian forward David Okereke came for Emmanuel Gyasi in the 62nd minute in Spezia’s 2-1 loss to Lecce.
Okereke who has scored ten goals in the Serie B has made 30 appearances for Spezia.
Spezia finished seventh in the log and will face sixth placed Hellas Verona in the promotional playoff quarter-final clash on the 17th of May, 2019.
