Real Sociedad have set their attention on signing Almeria striker Umar Sadiq following the imminent departure of Alexander Isak.

Reports from the English press suggest that Real Sociedad have agreed to let the 22-year-old Sweden international join Premier League moneybags Newcastle United in exchange for €70 million.

Isak’s departure leaves a gap in Real Sociedad’s attack, which the White and Blues want to fill with Super Eagles target man Umar Sadiq.

What’s the Umar Sadiq situation? The brightest shining star in the Almeria dressing room, Sadiq has been linked with a move away from the Power Horse Stadium all summer.

Still, the former AS Roma striker remains with the Rojiblancos, despite the interests of Villarreal, Sevilla, and Getafe, as well as confirmed bids from some unnamed suitors.

Sadiq has not been disturbed by his uncertain situation, with the Nigerian forward hitting his first La Liga goal in Almeria’s 1-1 draw with Elche at the weekend.

But with only a few days left before the close of the transfer window, it appears the 25-year-old’s time in Andalusia is about to end.

Are Real now the frontrunners? Real Sociedad are expected to move swiftly in the market to find a capable replacement for Isak.

According to Eldesmarque, the Anoeta Stadium landlords identify Sadiq as the best fit of all their transfer options.

And the White and Blues are reportedly willing to offer Almeria €18 million for the Nigerian.

That could present a stumbling block to the deal as Almeria have repeatedly made it clear that Sadiq will only leave for close to 30 million euros.

Real Sociedad finished sixth in La Liga last season and will play in the Europa League this term
