Real Madrid Midfielder Mateo Kovacic Dismisses Roberto Mancini Reunion at Inter

"?Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has ruled out a potential return to Inter Milan, as long as Roberto Mancini remains as manager.

Highly-rated Croatian international Kovacic moved to the Bernabeu last summer for £23.5m, following a two-and-a-half year spell at the club, including an eight month stint under Mancini's management.

Mancini joined the club in November 2014, following their decision to dispense with Walter Mazzari.

Despite starting just eleven games during his time at Madrid, under both Rafa Benitez and Zinedine Zidane, Kovacic is held in high regard by the club, who have repelled a number of loan offers for him.

One of the main problems Kovacic has faced during his time in Spain is the high level of competition in the Madrid midfield, with Toni Kroos, Kevin Casemiro and Croatian team-mate Luka Modric all enjoying excellent seasons.

However, Zidane does have a reputation for promoting young players from within the club, following his time a reserve team manager, having given game time to Borja Mayoral and Philipp Lienhart.

Kovacic has been selected for the Croatia squad for Euro 2016, and he told "?AS, from their official training camp in France, that he had no wish to play under Mancini again.

"I will not return with Mancini on the bench. I had a strange relationship with him, it's a private thing and there's no need to talk about it."

However, when questioned on a potential move to rival Italian sides AC Milan or Juventus, the 22 year-old was more open to a move in the future.

"You never know what will happen in the future, I don't know what will happen."
