New Juventus signing Adrien Rabiot admits that the chance to play with Cristiano Ronaldo was a factor in him choosing to join the Italian champions.

After his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired, the Frenchman joined Juventus on a free transfer and has signed a four-year contract worth €7 million per season.

“I had the chance of playing with two other great players [Kylian Mbappe and Neymar],” he said at his unveiling.

“Cristiano had weight on my decision, but I know that Juve’s squad is full of great players and the spirit here is positive.”

Rabiot spent 2018/19 working alongside Juventus great Gianluigi Buffon in Paris and the veteran himself could rejoin the Old Lady this summer.

“Buffon told me a lot of interesting things,” the midfielder said.

“His opinion held a lot of weight.

“He told me that Juve was the best way to take a step forward in my career. A season here means more than in many other places.”

Despite it being early days for him in Italy, Rabiot has no doubt that his new club is a step above PSG.

“Juventus are a great club,” he said.

“They’re very prestigious and have a great European history and tradition.

“As I see it, they’re a step ahead of PSG.”
