There are 18 PSL players in Shakes Mashaba’s Bafana Bafana squad, while Kennedy Mweene, Mukuka Mulenga, Davis Nkausu (all Zambia), Mohammed Awal and Edwin Gyimah (both Ghana) have also been selected by their nations.

Tunisia’s national league, Ligue 1, is the second most represented division with 15 players, while the DRC’s Linafoot comes in at third with 12 representatives at the AFCON.

Meanwhile, neither Senegal nor Cape Verde have a single player from their domestic leagues at the tournament, with their squads being made up of completely overseas-based players.

This year’s tournament will begin on Saturday, January 17, as Africa’s top nations battle it out for the right to call themselves the best in the continent.
