Northern Irish groundskeeper Jonathan Calderwood has reportedly been called to a preliminary meeting that could lead to his dismissal from PSG.
Calderwood has been responsible for the condition of the Parisian club’s pitch since 2013, but his position has become uncertain following a series of incidents in recent weeks.
The main issue concerns the state of the playing surface at Parc des Princes, which had already become a significant problem at the start of the season. The pitch was badly affected by unusually high summer temperatures, with its condition eventually reaching a critical level.
That forced PSG to swap the venues for one of their home and away fixtures with Rennes. The match, which had originally been scheduled to take place in Paris, was instead played at Roazhon Park and ended in a 2-2 draw.
The decision also had financial consequences for PSG. The club was fined 150,000 euros after being unable to stage the fixture at its own stadium at the scheduled time.
According to derbyderbyderby, citing L’Equipe, the recent problems have placed Calderwood’s future at the club in doubt.
