President Federation Cup: Rivers Angels beat Delta Queens to reach final

Rivers Angels have reached the finals of the President Federation Cup after beating Delta Queens in the semi final on Sunday in Awka, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Jewel of Rivers defeated their South-South neighbours 2-1 at the Awka City Stadium, Anambra to the finals in Lagos after early goals from Blessing Okpe and Peace Effiong.

The 2021 Nigeria Women Football League champions capitalised on an early surge to score two goals in the space of two minutes.

The first goal from Okpe came on 4 minutes  through Aminat Folorunsho's cross before Effiong doubled the lead two minutes later from a goal mouth scramble.

Okpala Maureen reduced deficit on 45 minute after penalty to Delta Queens as Florence Alexander was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

Nevertheless, the Porthacourt side held on for victory in the second half to reach the final of the country's oldest Cup competition which will hold at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, Lagos.
