Harvey Elliott has been diagnosed with a severe ankle injury, according to Liverpool.

After a horrific tackle from Pascal Struijk, Elliott was stretchered off in the Reds' 3-0 win against Leeds on Sunday.

Teammates and supporters feared the worst, but the club has since confirmed that the 18-year-old has been released from hospital.

He will, however, require surgery in the following days.

His recuperation has been given no timetable.

Harvey, his family, and Liverpool FC would like to place on record their thanks to the paramedics and all the staff at Leeds General Infirmary for the care and treatment given.

Harvey's injury marred Liverpool's 3 - 0 victory over Leeds as Mohammed Salah scored to place him on 100th goals scored in the Premier League. This makes him part of the 100 goals club.
