Harvey Elliott has been discharged from hospital and will undergo surgery in the coming days after suffering a dislocated ankle in Liverpool's 3-0 win against Leeds on Sunday.

The 18-year-old was in severe pain after going down under a challenge from Leeds' Pascal Struijk, who was sent off in the 60th minute following a VAR review into the incident.

Elliott, making his fourth Premier League appearance of the campaign, received treatment from Liverpool's medical staff before he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary accompanied by club doctor Jim Moxon and his family.

He was released from the hospital later on Sunday evening.

"Harvey, his family and Liverpool FC would like to place on record their thanks to the paramedics and all the staff at Leeds General Infirmary for the care and treatment given," Liverpool said in a statement.

A number of the teenager's team-mates, including Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker, were visibly distressed by the injury.
