Danny Ings’ sudden departure from Southampton has left the club handicapped upfront. The Saints have been looking aggressively for a pure centre-forward and reportedly have convinced a move for Blackburn Rover striker Adam Armstrong.

The transfer deal is said to be around the £15m range, according to The Athletic. However, talks are said to be ongoing regarding the personal terms of the striker with the club. Armstrong played out a fantastic season with Rovers in 2020/21 as he grabbed 28 goals in 40 appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side.

Newcastle United, from where he moved to Rovers in 2018, are set to receive upto 40% of the fee agreed from Rovers as part of their deal three years ago.
