Arsenal face losing forward Eddie Nketiah on a free transfer after the youngster’s move to Crystal Palace fell through, the Sun reports.

The Eagles had been interested in signing the attacker but Patrick Vieira opted for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard at the final moment, leaving Eddie frustrated.

The Gunners had hoped to raise as much as £20 million through the sale of the centre-forward and their inability to sell the ace meant Mikel Arteta was unable to bring in a new player in the final third.

Arsenal’s desire to cash in on the academy graduate was based on the fact that the talent has 12 months to run on his contract at the Emirates and he has intimated that he is unwilling to sign an extension without guarantees over game time.

With the Spaniard unwilling to do that, the club face the prospect of losing the player on a free transfer in 2022.

Eddie can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides from January 1st or wait until the end of the campaign to join an English club.
