Party time

A special dedication

It was a memorable first start for Zobahan for Nigerian forward Christian Osaguona. The 28-year-old had joined the Isfahan club just a fortnight ago so his 110th-minute winner against Kuwait SC, that took Zobahan into the 2019 AFC Champions League play-offs, was already an important milestone.

But for personal reasons it had a more profound meaning, coming on the day of his mother's birthday – many happy returns!

Double celebration

Chiang Rai defender Brinner had two reasons to celebrate on Tuesday, after he revealed earlier in the day that he first met his partner exactly 17 years ago. Several hours later the Brazilian helped the Thai side defeat Myanmar's Yangon United 3-1 to set up a date with Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Eye for the spectacular

Pakhtakor's 2-1 victory over Air Force Club witnessed three stunning goals, the first of which was an acrobatic bicycle kick from Jaloliddin Masharipov. The striker, who shared a picture on Instagram of him in full flight, will be grateful to the photographer who caught it on camera.

Flying high

Newcastle Jets will take the long flight to Japan to face defending champions Kashima Antlers next Tuesday after defeating Indonesia's Persija Jakarta 3-1 after extra time. Captain Jason Boogaard is delighted with the chance to play on the biggest stage.

Thanks for the support

Two-time AFC Cup runners-up FC Istiklol may have missed out on the chance to qualify for their first AFC Champions League after a 4-2 loss to AGMK FC, but the club were delighted with the travelling band of fans who made the trip from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan to cheer the team on. Here's a picture they shared on their official Facebook account.
