Buriram: Thailand stayed perfect to clinch the U-15 Women’s Youth Tournament 2018 title after beating Malta 2-0 in their final fixture at the Chang Arena on Thursday.
The four-nation tournament is a partnership between the Football Association of Thailand, AFC and UEFA, under the UEFA ASSIST programme, which is essentially to provide practical assistance and to offer support through development activities.
Host nation Thailand opened their tournament with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Singapore followed by a 3-0 result against Mongolia.
Emerging champions is a confidence booster for Thailand as they prepare to host the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship in September.
Meanwhile, a goal in each half led to Mongolia’s 2-0 win over Singapore as they ended their tournament on a high note.
Both teams had suffered consecutive losses and were out of contention for top place.
Malta claimed second spot in the standings, while Mongolia's final day win placed them third and Singapore fourth.
