Bright Osayi-Samuel has been awarded Man of the Match after Birmingham City’s 1-1 home draw with Ipswich Town on Friday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The Championship opener at St Andrews saw the Blues take the lead through Jay Stanfield just before the hour mark.

Ipswich, however, leveled deep into stoppage time via a penalty from George Hirst, awarded after Lyndon Dykes was penalised for handling the ball inside the box.

Making his first competitive outing for Birmingham City, Osayi-Samuel delivered a standout performance. The Nigerian international created a major scoring opportunity, completed all his long passes with 100% accuracy, and won 80% of his ground duels.

The 27-year-old joined Birmingham on a free transfer last month following his departure from Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce.

Osayi-Samuel is no stranger to the Championship, having previously featured for Queens Park Rangers and Blackpool.
