South African giants Orlando Pirates have moved to clear the air and denied reports that they are set to sign Ghana defender Awal Mohammed from Maritzburg United.
The Siya crew have been linked to the former Kotoko defender in recent times with reports circulating that the Buccaneer will unveil him as their latest recruit after the ongoing cup of nations in Equatorial Guinea.
The news has triggered anger from officials of the team of choice who are keen on holding on to their player.
But Pirates administrative officer Floyd Mbele says reports linking Awal with a move to Pirates are way off the mark.
“No I don’t know anything about that,” said Mbele to the Siya crew.
“People have their creative ways of what they want to see happen.”
Awal has been a regular member of Steve Komphela’s side since joining them in 2012.
