Onyekuru Set To Miss Super Eagles – Bafana Clash Over Injury

Henry Onyekuru is set to miss Nigeria’s crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying away fixture against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa due to injury.

Gernot Rohr’s men will face South Africa at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg in their 2019 AFCON qualifying matchday five encounter on November 17.

Onyekuru picked up the injury in Super Eagles’ matchday four encounter against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in Sfax, Tunisia.

He came in as an 81st minute substitute for Samuel Kalu in the encounter which the Super Eagles won 3-2 courtesy of a brace from Odion Ighalo and a strike from stand-in captain, Ahmed Musa.

Onyekuru is expected to be out up to four-six weeks which put his availability for the South Africa clash in doubt.

The striker who is on loan at Galatasaray from English Premier League side, Everton was out for almost the second half of last season following an injury he picked up during his loan stint with Belgian club, Anderlecht.
