Goals from Niall McGinn and Steve Davis ensured victory in the first qualifier of their European Championship campaign, with head coach O'Neill already thinking ahead to the meeting with Belarus in Belfast on Sunday.

There are a lot of things we are pleased about, but there are things there we need to improve on.

He told Sky Sports: "A good win for us, it was never going to be an easy and straight forward game.

"It was all about getting that first goal, we had opportunities in the first half that we should have done better with.

"Then the longer the game goes on the more belief they had because they had something to hold on to, but we got the goal and we could have scored a few more.

"There are a lot of things we are pleased about, but there are things there we need to improve on, there's no doubt about that.

"We got into the final third a lot, but at times the final ball was not good enough."

Northern Ireland have met Belarus once previously, with the hosts winning 3-0 in Belfast in May 2016 thanks goals from Kyle Lafferty, Conor Washington and Will Grigg.

The Irish are 3/4 to win again on Sunday and are 15/4 to claim a 1-0 victory, with the hosts 5/6 to keep a clean sheet.
